Answers to Review Questions

1. D. The /var/log/vmware/hostd-x.log file is only located on an ESXi server.

2. A. The esxcfg-nics -l command can help to identify a NIC’s PCI address and its location on the back of the ESX server. Disconnecting one adapter at a time, this command will show the network interface “down” and help in identifying the proper PCI address.

3. B. Using local storage for the installation can sometimes be complicated by connecting the ESX/ESXi server to the SAN and allowing the storage array volumes to be seen by the installer. One best practice is to disconnect the ESX/ESXi server from the SAN while performing the installation so that local storage is all that is presented.

4. C. The file format for the ESX host’s diagnostic bundle is TGZ, not ZIP.
