The chart of wheat (see Figure 3.1) is typical of commercial activity. You will see this time and time again. Wheat may well be the most singularly used commodity on the planet. As bread is the staff of life, wheat has been actively traded for hundreds of years and has many lessons to teach us. First, let me explain what you are looking at in the chart. The top of the chart is a weekly record of how wheat has traded. This is a continuous record representing how all wheat contracts have traded. I prefer using weekly charts for several reasons: we get the information once a week, not on a daily time frame. There is less data to follow. I like to keep it simple, and these simple weekly charts are what I have always used. Monthly charts are okay, but often are late in telling ....
