Chapter 10. Administering SharePoint Customization

SharePoint Server 2010 comes with a large number of features and functionality out-of-the-box so many companies will not need to customize it. However, businesses have an almost limitless variety of—and disparate requirements for—their content management systems. Microsoft has therefore built SharePoint with many customizable features so that you can adapt it to needs that are often unique to your organization. And most important, you do not need to be a developer to make most customizations. Instead, you can use the browser, SharePoint Designer 2010, and Office InfoPath 2010 to create forms, pages, workflows, content types, and other unique kinds of content. In this chapter, you will see how to make these customizations and install and administer customizations made by other users and developers.
