A distribution group (sometimes called a distribution list) is a list of email addresses that you treat as one address. When you send an email to the group address, that message is delivered to all members of the group. For example, a group called support@contoso.com could contain the support staff and vendors who provide support for your organization. When someone emails support@contoso.com, all members of the group are notified. You can create distribution groups for in-house contacts (all employees, support staff, a specific project team), external contacts (all customers, all vendors, on-call consultants), or a combination (seminar registration, newsletter). In the next section, you use OWA to set up an example distribution group (public group) for all employees.
