Even though the task of managing full-text indexes belongs to the Microsoft Search Service, rather than SQL Server, all of the management work can be performed within the SQL Server management tools. These tasks are similar in SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005. I'll start with the SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Manager and then move on to the SQL Server 2005 Management Studio. I'll briefly show you how to create and populate a full-text catalog.
