W orkforce p lAnning And S election --A nAlySiS Planning, implementing, and evaluating the process of obtaining and selecting qualified candidates from internal and external sources for positions through- out the organization to fulfill the organization's performance requirements. If this is one of the areas not applicable to your human resources department and/or Organization and you did not answer questions in it, go on to page 215. To analyze this category, you first need to have totaled the ratings for all its ques- tions. You entered that total on page 210. Now enter that total on the following line. As a first part of your analysis, you need to compare your total points with the total points developed by the Advisory Board. The ratings provided for the answers to the questions in this category were based on the preceding definition and what our Advisory Board members felt were the best answers for a well-managed, success- ful, professional human resources department. However, although the Advisory Board provided ratings to be used for all human resources functions, the members have a wide variety of education and experience. Their ratings are a helpful guide, but you must consider the ratings in terms of the needs of your Organization. If your total points were 505 or more for this category, our Advisory Board feels that your human resources department is functioning very well in this area. Your actions appear to be fulfilling the category's definition and providing the human resources department and the Organization with a solid base for an effective human resourcesfunction.Yourmajorneedinthiscategoryistocontinuallyensurethat the department is obtaining candidates with required qualifications in a timely and cost-effective manner. If your total points were at least 416 but no more than 504, our Advisory Board feels that your human resources department is functioning better than what they believe to be a typical human resources department, but you may need to give this area some attention. Even though it is currently better than typical, rapid changes in technology, laws, and society may have a performance impact. If this were to 213 American Management Association www.amanet.org
