In making the maps, the project team evaluates each business process step for its project requirement applicability. In other words, is the solution being considered being used in this process step? If so, what should the solution do to facilitate the process? The more detailed the functional requirements, the better the likelihood of sat- isfying stakeholders. To eliminate duplication of requirements, a sim- ple spreadsheet can enumerate the requirements and trace them to the business process. Part Two of this book covers specifics of business process map- ping and how to create various types of maps. For now, remember that the key to stabilizing requirements is through a partnership de- veloped in the provider/customer relationship. The functional man- ager plays a vital role in transferring business knowledge to the project team and participating in the process design and the require- ments that support the process design.
