124 Enterprise Project Governance Conclusions For EPG to become a reality, the fundamentals for managing projects across an enterprise must be in place. The fundamental elements for effectively im- plementing and making operational EPG are many, but they can be grouped into four categories: (1) governance in project management, (2) culture, (3) macroprocesses, and (4) competency. EPG can be developed under distinct leadership in three scenarios: (1) corporate board committee, (2) CEO and executive team, and (3) grassroots movement. Some of the organizational op- tions are CPO (chief project offi cer), CPMO (corporate project management offi ce), PgMO (program management offi ce), and project committees, as well as variations of the classic PMO. The fit of each of these essential pieces of the EPG puzzle is essential. Implementation of EPG and its respective components requires design to meet the organization's requirements, as well as communi- cation and commitment building.
