4 Authenticity Rules > Bring Your Interests to Work - Pg. 54

54 CHARACTER helped you get to know what is important to you and who you are. Confidence is both the foundation and result of authenticity. It makes you strong enough to pursue what's important, and it is what you feel when you can be yourself completely. Gaining an authentic reputation based on who you are can be effort- less, as natural as breathing. At the same time, there are ways to establish this reputation intentionally so that people become a supportive part your talents, skills, visions, and goals. The rest of this chapter shares these sim- ple ways we can express ourselves authentically. Be Personal One thing is for sure: there really isn't any distinction between our per- sonal and our professional reputations. Other than traveling back and forth to an office, plant, or store each day for work, it's sometimes hard to know where one begins and the other leaves off. That, actually, is a strength and a positive thing. It makes your actions and your reputation even more genuine because you don't cross borderlines between aspects of your life.
