cHAPter 3: iDentiFY are available. Most career centers offer free career testing to students, and many offer lifetime assistance to alumni as well. It amazes me how few students and young professionals uti- lize their college's career center. At the minimum, your col- lege's career center or alumni association should be able to direct you to resources to use on your own. There are two caveats on this, however. Don't automatically assume that you have to do what a career test thinks you should do, and don't limit your thinking to the results from a career assess- ment. 6. Talk to people you trust. Find several people you trust, and ask for their help in brainstorming potential career paths for you based on what they consider your strengths to be. While you need to come to your own conclusions, talking out loud to people you respect can uncover ideas you had not previously considered.
