Why Body Language is Bigger than you Think
The Way We Dress
Body language is the term that's been adopted for all things non-verbal but it's misleading. Non-verbal communication means everything, right down to the way you dress. If you wear a uniform there's not usually much in the way of personalization, but you can see it if you look.
As a teenager I remember vividly two of my local bus conductors from the days when the driver was locked away at the front of the bus and you had a conductor collecting the fairs and calling out each stop along the route.
Both these conductors wore the standard grey uniform jacket, trousers and peaked cap of the bus company. The only difference was that one had badges all over his jacket lapels and the other had badges all over his cap. Each of these little badges meant something to them. They wanted people to see them, and if you asked, they would happily tell you a story of how they came to get each of them. They were the Pearly Kings of bus conductors.
