AROUND THE NEXT CORNER

I have always tried to have a goal to work towards in my life. I might not be the fastest, but I normally get there in the end. During my swimming career, one goal rolled into another: Paralympic Games … European Championships … World Championships … European Championships … Paralympic Games – and so on for five Paralympic cycles.

But I have set myself other challenges – goals away from the swimming pool, goals that are now more important to me. One is to enjoy my motivational speaking, the lifestyle that it offers me and the impact it has on others. Another is to support charities such as the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Youth Sport Trust.

The Teenage Cancer Trust is fortunate to have some generous friends. Not all give money; some give something equally valuable – time. For one week each year an incredible list of stars performs at the Royal Albert Hall.
