Chapter 4: Advanced Wireless Lighting > Setting the Flash Mode

Setting the Flash Mode

After your flash is set to Master, you need to decide which flash mode you want to use for each individual group as well as the Master flash. If you skipped Chapter 2 and are unsure of the different flash modes for your specific speedlight, it’s time to rewind and review.

Using AWL, you can choose from the following flash modes:

TTL (Through-the-Lens). This is the full i-TTL mode. The camera and speedlights determine the output settings for each group.

AA/A (Auto Aperture or non-TTL Auto Flash). If you are using a non-CPU lens without entering non-CPU lens data in your camera, or if your camera doesn’t support non-CPU lens data, this mode is automatically set.

M (Manual). You determine the output settings.
