In Chapter 6, “Creating Texture Maps,” you learned how to extract a piece of raster entourage (in the shape of a businesswoman) from a photo. One advantage 3D entourage has over its raster cousin is there is no need to extract images from the surrounding pixels. Please note that you’ll need the Extended version of Photoshop to work with 3D models.
Although there is no need to extract a 3D model from a photographic background, integrating 3D entourage into a photograph can still be challenging. There are some tricks, however, to streamlining this process. One is to draw temporary lines to help match the perspective of the virtual camera with the lines of perspective in the photo. You’ll sometimes need to get creative with light and shadow to make 3D models seem like they belong in photographs.
