The process for conducting a keyword research project can be a daunting task. It is not easy or fun, but having the right process in place can make it more meaningful and efficient. Whether you use online tools or work the steps manually, you will find that this process can be a real benefit to you. Figure 2-8 shows each step in this process.

The purpose is to develop an efficient workflow, from identifying your initial set of keyword all the way to utilization. You might make some slight variations depending on your own approach, but the principles in this four-step process will help you get the results you want quickly.
Brainstorming: Find All Possible Keywords
The first step is to brainstorm all of the possibilities of keywords that might be candidates. This can be done using some tools I will outline in Chapter 3 or with methods I will outline in Chapter 4. The tools will help to automate the process a bit more and allow you to export your work into a spreadsheet, which will make it a lot easier.
