In 2002 the head of training and career management at L'Oréal USA, Bertrand de Laleu, asked me to design a global training seminar for L'Oréal's executives on the management of creative teams. This assignment is partly what led to the development of the Intuitive Compass, although I was unaware of it at the time. Bertrand and I had been introduced sometime before, and he knew I had a diverse background and an interest in human development and creativity.
