FOCUS ON WHAT REALLY MATTERS

Of all the tasks you’re working on, only a few of them really count. Sometimes when you’re feeling totally overwhelmed by a project it’s easy to forget that. Instead you get caught in a quagmire of hundreds of tasks that in the end really aren’t going to make much difference to your final results. Perhaps it’s time to do much less, but do a few things really well.

Is the most important ingredient to your business success making new calls? Then forget most of your other tasks, and just do twice as much new client calling.

What is the one thing that would improve your relationship the most? Spend less time on the other stuff and really focus on that.

The key here is clarity. When you ask someone the number one most important aspect of their job—health, success, relationship, spiritual life, or family life—they usually have never even thought about it. But if you meet somebody who is totally clear on his or her number one priority in each area of life, it’s pretty likely that this person is more effective, more successful, and happier than most. Such clarity leads to greater efficiency, which leads to greater progress in areas they care about, which naturally leads to greater life satisfaction.
