Research has shown that compared to the lightest digital users, 47 percent of the heaviest users of digital gadgets in schools in the United States scored grades of C or lower, reported being sad or bored more often, got into trouble more often, did not get along as well with parents, and were not happy at school.19
Although the research can’t determine if the use of digital gadgets causes the problem or increased use results from these underlying conditions, one thing certain is that problems aren’t being solved as long as heavy use continues.
