Does the Company Have a Retirement of Stock on Its Balance Sheet?

This is related to the share buybacks. After a company purchases stock from the open market, instead of keeping it in the Treasury, it can retire the stock. If it keeps it in the Treasury, those shares can be reissued later to raise capital.

If you see the retirement of stock value on a company’s balance sheet, that is a good thing because the company is confident that it does not need to issue new shares to raise capital in the near future.

I could not find any entries for the retirement of stock in either KO or GT, which is a negative, but not a large negative.
