Microsoft started with the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) program, which validated individuals' knowledge and expertise on a wide variety of products. They have expanded these certifications into several categories:
Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) The MTA certifications are entry-level certifications that are available only at academic institutions. They validate an individual's knowledge and basic understanding of key technology concepts. The three IT professional series certifications are Networking Fundamentals, Security Fundamentals, and Windows Server Administration Fundamentals. There are also several developer certifications. You must take and pass one exam to earn each MTA certification.
