Using the Themes to Close the Project

This section looks at how the themes are used at the end of the project. It is important for you to understand this, as this will be a potential topic for exam questions.

Business Case Theme

During the Closing a Project process, the Project Manager updates the Benefits Review Plan with any further planned post-project benefit reviews and also reviews any benefits that have occurred during the project.

During the Directing a Project process, the Project Board ensures that corporate or programme management assumes responsibility for the post-project benefits reviews and reviews the achievement of any benefits during the project.

Organization Theme

The Project Manager uses the Communication Management Strategy to determine who needs to be notified that the project is ending. After the Directing a Project activity, Authorize project closure, the project management team is disbanded. The responsibility for post-project benefit reviews is given to the corporate or programme management team. The responsibility for the project’s products is handed over to the operations and maintenance team.
