Chapter 4: Business Case Theme > What Is the Business Case Theme?

What Is the Business Case Theme?

The purpose of the Business Case theme is to set up a series of mechanisms to ensure that the project remains desirable, viable, and achievable. It helps to evaluate whether a business justification exists for carrying out the project. It ensures that in all the major decisions taken about the project, such as whether it should start, whether it should go on to the next major part (stage), or whether it should finish, the viability of the project is considered. It also ensures that when the project management team is making decisions on proposed changes or how to deal with risks, the impact on the Business Case will be taken into consideration.

The Business Case theme covers these topics:

  • The relationships between outputs, outcomes, benefits, and dis-benefits
