The Business Case Management Product

Rather confusingly as well as being the name for a theme, the Business Case is also the name of a management product. The theme, as you have seen, describes the activities, roles, processes, and management products involved with ensuring that there is business justification for the project. One of the management products that the Business Case theme describes is the Business Case management product!

The Purpose

The purpose of the Business Case is to set out the justification for the project. It provides a compelling argument to show why the project represents value for money and will give a good return on investment. In order to do this, the Business Case balances out the benefits that can be expected from the project against the cost of the initial project and any ongoing costs of operating the project’s products. It also takes into account any risks that the project or the organization will be exposed to as a result of this project.
