8 Media Composer 6: Professional Effects and Compositing Exploring the Effect Editor After you have applied an effect, you'll need to make various adjustments to it. For this, you will need to understand the Effect Editor. The Effect Editor, which is a separate window, has some features that are common to all effects and others that apply to specific effects only. You can open the Effect Editor in two ways: I I By positioning your cursor on a clip with an effect in the Timeline and click- ing the Effect Mode button (refer to Figure 1.8) By positioning your cursor on a clip with an effect in the Timeline, opening the Tools menu, and choosing Effect Editor Note: You must have the appropriate video track selected in the Track panel of the Timeline. If you have no track selected, the Effect Editor will be empty. If you have effects on multiple active tracks, the Effect Editor will open for the highest track selected in the Track panel. Once you are in Effect mode, you can click any clip or transition in the Timeline that has an effect, and the Effect Editor will populate with controls appropriate for the selected effect. Add the Picture-in-Picture (PIP) effect, which is in the Effect Palette's Blend cate- gory, to one of the clips in your sequence.
