Avid FX has various key effects, including a chroma key, all found in the Filters menu under the Keys and Matte section. There may be situations when this key does a better job than Media Composer’s SpectraMatte; every key is different, and it is always worth trying various approaches to get the best result. Also included are tools to improve the key you might get with the basic chroma key. The normal workflow is to add the different fine-tuning effects on top of the existing key. Although this gives you many options, it is probably beyond the scope of this book to delve too deeply, so I will just walk you through a quick example to give you some starter points.
To apply a key effect:
1. Load the MAN IN CHAIR sequence in the LESSON 11 AVID FX PART 2 bin. It has an Avid FX filter applied, so enter Effect mode and launch the Avid FX user interface.
