Batch Import has another very important use. You may be planning to output a high-quality movie in HD, but you need to work in an “offline” resolution during the edit. For example, suppose you were editing the Singapore clips, which were imported at DNxHD 36. Although you probably can’t tell, this is meant to be an offline resolution. When you finish your edit, you will need to reimport the shots at a higher resolution. In the old days of tape, you would have redigitized all the clips from the original source tape. Now you can do the same, only with files instead. Batch Import works for imported files of any type—still or moving.
So if you wanted to import the Singapore files again—only this time at, say, DNxHD 175—you would use the Batch Import dialog box to find the original files and reimport them.
