Lesson 5 Paint Effects > Subsets of the Paint Effect

Subsets of the Paint Effect

Earlier, I mentioned that some features of the Paint Effect have been separated out into their own freestanding versions to simplify their use. These are Mosaic, Blur, Scratch Removal, and Spot Color. In addition to these is AniMatte, which is used to key one video layer on top of another. This will be discussed in the Lesson 6, “Keying.”

Applying Mosaic and Blur Effects

Both these effects work in exactly the same way, only one blurs part of the image and one adds a mosaic effect. These are very useful effects for hiding the identity of a person in a video clip.

To apply a Mosaic or Blur effect to an image:

1. Drag the MOSAIC or BLUR effect from the Image category of the Effect Palette onto the clip in the Timeline.
