Lesson 3 introduced the 3D Warp effect. Although this effect has many uses, you saw that you can’t change the order in which parameters such as rotation are applied.
I used an example where you have a picture that animates from left to right, but also has a rotation applied (see Figure 8.18). Because the position is applied after the rotation, you will simply move the rotated clip across the screen. However, what you really want to do is to have the image move back into the screen in the direction of the rotation. You will see later that this is possible with Avid FX because it is easy to change the order you apply transformations, but you may want to try it using the 3D Warp just for fun. For example, suppose you tried to get around the problem by trying two 3D Warps—one with a move from side to side and then on top of that apply a rotation?
