When you don’t need special effects to blend images, placing images next to each other in ProShow works just fine. Sometimes, though, you need an external editor to add production quality to the composition.
Especially with portrait images, fitting multiple images can be done by creating a single new image composed of the multiple images put together horizontally. Use sharp edges to keep the images distinctly separate, or blend the edges with a soft edge to show relation to each other.
Figure 10.12 shows four ways you can blend the same two images using an external editor. In the upper left, the photos are placed next to each other with no special editing. You can do this with ProShow and no external editor. In the upper right, an external editor blends the two images using a soft fade between the two. In the lower left, a solid bar has been added between the two images to show a clear separation. In the lower right, a special effect blends the two images with more style.
