Drew is a photographer and avid traveler. He has spent the past five years traveling across the North American continent, photographing the entire journey along the way.

Every presentation is a story. The difference between a carnivalesque nightmare of images and a fluid, visual emotion has everything to do with the flow of the work. Before I even begin to create a presentation, I try to have a cohesive idea of what I want to accomplish. What kind of feelings do I want to convey through the subject, what sequence of images fits the mood of the presentation, and what is the best way to transition those photos to complete the story?

The feeling of the show is the most important element, but how do you get people to feel a certain way when they see your work? To start, select images that fit the theme of the presentation, and arrange them in an order that won’t confuse the idea. Regardless of the style packs you use or the amazing transitional tricks you invent, taking all your images in random order and placing them in a show will lose the attention of your audience. Decide what images you want to be in the show, and then decide how each photo makes you feel. Then try to arrange the sequence of images to play off those feelings.
