Chapter 4 Shooting Stills and Movies > Using Motion Snapshot Mode

Using Motion Snapshot Mode

Regardless of your level of expertise and experience, you’ve enjoyed taking still snapshots for as long as you’ve been using a camera. Snapshots are those grab shots you take to capture a moment and preserve a memory, usually with no artistic planning ahead of time, nor even an intent to be especially creative. Your camera is set on Automatic or Program mode, you switch it on, compose your shot, and click away. The captured image has its own charm simply because it’s an unposed, unplanned snapshot.

The Nikon V1’s Motion Snapshot mode brings the same concept to movie making, providing short, slow-motion glimpses of moments you capture in easy to digest bites. If your “home movie” or “vacation movie” nights put everyone to sleep, your Nikon V1 motion snapshots should prove to be much more enjoyable and palatable.
