It is not exactly a secret among long-time Logic Pro users that very few Score Editor improvements have been forthcoming. However, Logic Pro 9 has a feature for altering the length of multiple notes without ever leaving the Score Editor or opening another editor (called Duration Bars). Figure 11.1 shows the View menu’s Duration Bars option. Here, the Selected Notes option is enabled.
1. Shift-select several notes that you want to make longer. You can see the Duration Bar handles. See Figure 11.2.
2. Drag the notes to the length you would like them; keep an eye on the help tag. See Figure 11.3. In Figure 11.4, you can see that the notes are lengthened.
A nice feature is the ability to convert pedaling, which is MIDI controller 64, to note length. Figure 11.5 shows a series of quarter notes that sound like whole notes because the sustain pedal continues the sound. You can eliminate the pedaling but convert the notes to their proper display as whole notes.
