Printing Your Resume

Chances are, your computer is connected to a printer that will produce a good-quality copy—or copies—as you need them. Be sure to use only a high-quality laser or inkjet printer.

As for photocopying your resume, remember that no copy machine can reproduce the print quality of a typeset original. Avoid photocopying more than 12 resumes at a time, because you’ll almost certainly want to make edits and changes down the road.

If you don’t anticipate wanting to customize your resume for different job opportunities, visit a FedEx office or the copy department of a major office supply store. These stores use high-quality photocopiers; you can typically choose to do it yourself or ask for help from an assistant. Either way, run a sample before you print the entire order—you want to make sure there are no black or gray streaks or spots on your resume. This will also give you a chance to adjust the lightness or darkness of the copier.
