Before we move on, let’s take a look at four features that can kick your editing up a notch!
In most cases, you’ll want your audio clips securely anchored to an absolute time location, right down to the sample. In this kind of scenario, audio clips’ timing will not change if you change your session’s tempo. MIDI notes and clips (which we’ll talk about in the next chapter), on the other hand, typically do change along with tempo, their position being locked to your session’s bars, beats, and ticks. With Pro Tools, you have the option of breaking away from an Audio track’s default behavior, setting clips to be locked to a tick-based location. In this sort of tick-based Audio track, when you change your tempo, your clips will move accordingly.
