And now it’s time to talk about the big, bad boy in Reason—Kong.
Whereas Thor has raw and sometimes ethereal majesty, Kong is all brute power. Why? Because Kong is all about percussion! Whereas Thor is the alpha and the omega of synthesizers, Kong is the king of drums.
Modeled on the MPC series of drum machines made famous by Akai, Kong allows you to create and perform by pressing pads (either onscreen or through your controller) that are set up to trigger drum sounds or loops.
Kong allows for advanced drum patch creation that can go far beyond Redrum, and like everything else in Reason, it is quite complementary to all that exists within the closed Reason environment already. And while it’s great for post-production, it also adds new possibilities for live performance with its ability to allow you to trigger loops on the fly—something that has been mostly missing up until now.
