Appendix B Capturing Tape-Based Media > Deleting Clips and Media Files

Deleting Clips and Media Files

Learning to ingest media—be it through AMA, import, or capture—is only half the story. You also need to know how to delete media as well. Whether it’s to get rid of a clip that was accidentally imported or captured or to clean the media off a drive when the project is finished, you’ll need to delete media at some point.

The capture process in general creates both the metadata in the bin and the media files on your media drives. The log and capture operation separates these two activities, but generally they happen at the same time. The same can be said for deleting clips. Generally, you delete both the master clip and the media file at the same time, but sometimes you want to delete only one or the other. Take a minute to read how to get rid of media.
