Creating Your Own Send To Template

Media Composer includes a number of Send To templates for common workflows. If you are going to do additional audio mixing and mastering in Pro Tools, for example, there are five different Send To templates you can use, depending on your specific workflow. One workflow mixes down your video to DV25 and consolidates your audio, making an optimized sequence for a Pro Tools system that supports playback of Avid standard definition video. Another Pro Tools workflow is optimized for systems connected to shared storage and only exports metadata.

Although there are more than a half dozen workflows included, you might opt to create your own Send To template to optimize a workflow specific to your needs. Templates are quick and easy to make, and can save you a lot of time—even on a single project. You can customize a Send To template to output a review copy for the client or send clips to a motion graphics application, since these workflows may happen multiple times over the course of a large project.
