Lesson 4 Manual Timeline Editing > Finding Clips in the Bins Pane

Finding Clips in the Bins Pane

When you first launch a project, the Find feature indexes all the bins in your project (even if they are closed) and creates a database of all of the metadata it finds. When you perform a search, Find accesses these databases to locate the information you are looking for. Re-indexing only occurs when a change is made to a bin.

Use the Edit menu’s Find feature to look for a specific clip. Just as you might search for specific text in a document, Find searches through project text based on your criteria. Not only can you do a simple search for words, but you can customize in which bins or columns to search. Another advantage of using Find: Bins do not need to be open. In projects with a lot of bins and clips, this can be a huge time saver.
