Making a New Title

The Avid Title tool is a separate application that you can open and close from within Media Composer. It has its own window and its own menu bar. In the Title Tool window you can create a page of text and graphics that can be saved over a color background or placed over video. Each title you create is saved into a bin and can be edited into a sequence using standard editing procedures.

To make a new title:

1. Launch Media Composer. From the USER PROFILE menu, choose TRAINING USER.

2. Select the HELLS KITCHEN project in the list of projects, and then click the OK button.

3. In the Project window, double-click the HELLS KITCHEN sequences bin to open it. The Hell’s Kitchen sequences bin opens with three sequences.

4. Double-click the HK TITLES AND TRANSITIONS sequence in the bin to load it into the Record monitor (see Figure 9.1), then press the SPACE BAR. Play the video until you hear the first voiceover narration.
