Creating a Book

To get started creating a book, the best thing to do is group all the images you want to use in the book into an album or an event. You don't need to put all your images in one location, but doing so makes your workflow easier.

  1. Once you have chosen the images you want to use in a book, select them (either individually or as an album or event), and then click the Create button in iPhoto's toolbar. From the pop-up menu that appears, select Book. The theme chooser screen appears, as shown in Figure 8–3.

The book theme chooser has four main interactive elements:

    • Book carousel: This is a representation of the books available to you. You'll note that your photos have already been applied to the covers. The book carousel contains a number of book themes. Each theme provides you with a different look and layout depending on the one you choose. Some examples of book themes are Travel, Picture Book, Journal, and Photo Essay. Click the books to rotate through the carousel.
    • Book type: Click to choose the type of book you want to create. Your options include hardcover, softcover, or wire-bound.
    • Book size: Click to choose from between a large or extra-large book size.
    • Color swatch: Click the different color squares to change a book's color scheme.
