Once you've learned how to create a book in iPhoto, you pretty much know how to create a card and calendar too. Apple wisely chose to make the creation process and tools the same. Before I jump into creating cards, I do want to point out one of the new card types introduced in iPhoto '11—the letterpress card.
Traditionally, custom cards created and ordered through software applications such as iPhoto have all used modern printing techniques. This means they've all been printed using standard cardstock send through digital printers. With the introduction of letterpress cards in iPhoto '11, however, Apple has blended cutting-edge digital printing techniques with centuries-old printing methods.
When you order a letterpress card, the theme you choose is physically embossed into the cardstock paper. This means the recipient of the card can actually feel the bumps and recesses of the design. Your photos are then digitally printed into the embossed cardstock, creating a unique look and feel. Letterpress cards are really quite spectacular to behold, and each one you order also comes with a matching embossed envelope.
