What Is iPhoto?

Great question! iPhoto is different things to different people. That is to say, it's a very versatile program. Once you learn it, you'll see just how simple Apple has made it to use.

Before I introduce you to the iPhoto interface, let's talk about the three primary things iPhoto allows you to do: organize, edit, and share your photos.

iPhoto Lets You Navigate and Organize Your Photos

Remember the world before digital photography? You'd take photos, go to your grocery store or Walgreens and have them developed, and then return to pick them up. You'd take them out of the envelope and try not to get fingerprint smudges on the glossies. After you looked at them, you might have just put them back in the envelope for safekeeping, or perhaps you were zealous and added all your photos to photo albums. If you were like me, most of the time those photos just ended up in a shoe box.
