As we broaden our horizon, it might help to know the typical challenges faced by your own IT organization or that of your client. As you might guess, all challenges revolve around the large number of applications and interfaces that a corporation typically has. Challenges include the following:
A large and disparate IT system that is “silo” based (applications are in relative isolation from each other).
A large number of running applications on various platforms and technologies. These include multiple ERP systems and a variety of homegrown applications developed by various business groups that have little or no interaction.
Exact inventory and documentation is missing.
