Facebook pages used to be called “Fan Pages,” but were shortened to just Pages. Facebook Pages get high search engine positions because of how they are indexed (and the metadata provided on the Page). Unlike personal accounts that limit you to 5,000 friends, a Page can have an unlimited number of “fans.” You can set up your Page with information, links to resources, a message forum, and pretty much anything else you want. A Facebook Page provides you with a convenient engaging way to interact with your “fans.”
Creating Pages is simple, but a major consideration you need to make is in the name. Take care of the name of your Page, as once you have created a Page, and have more than 100 fans, you cannot change the name. The name is part of the URL and because of the search engine optimizations (SEO) that Facebook employs to drive traffic to your page, their policy is not to allow you to change the name. Unlike with other parts of Facebook, if you contact them directly, you will not be able to change the name.
