In Chapter 3, “Camera Anatomy,” you learned about the image processing parameters that your camera might provide. (These features were also covered briefly in Chapter 5, “Image Sensors.”) These are the sharpness, saturation, contrast, and possibly other adjustments that your camera makes to any JPEG or TIFF image that it shoots.
These settings never affect shutter speed, aperture, ISO, metering, focus mode, or any other shooting parameters. As explained earlier, they are image adjustment processes that the computer in your camera performs after the image has been shot. They are no different than adjustments that you would make in your computer using a program like Photoshop.
