Red Eye

Because of their small size, many digital cameras are particularly prone to red-eye, that demonic look that can appear in your subjects’ eyes when the flash from your camera has bounced off their retinas and back into the camera’s lens. Although there are ways to avoid red-eye when you shoot (see Chapter 10, “Lighting”), there will still be times when you will face this problem in an image and need to remove it. Pet-eye is a variation of this that can cause dog and cat eyes to appear blue or other incorrect colors. Some cameras now include built-in red-eye and pet-eye removal.

There are several effective methods for removing red-eye in your image editor. Which one to use depends mainly on the capabilities of your image editing software.
