Chapter 11. Network Security

Securing a Linux server is a very critical task—not a week goes by without multiple stories of new computer security breaches. Obviously, the topic of security for any operating system is a very broad area to explore. Entire books have been written on securing Linux. In this chapter, our goal is to cover all the essential security tasks, so that your systems are secure. It is not the purpose of this chapter to make you a security guru; however, I am not just going to give you a few “how-to” lists to set up basic security. This chapter will discuss essential security concepts as well.
