Chapter 16 Music Mixing > Recording the Mix

Recording the Mix

When you are using an external summing device, the final mix must be recorded back into Nuendo or to another master recorder such as an analog two-track tape machine or high-res digital recorder. The easiest method is to record the mix right back into Nuendo on another audio track. Here’s how:

1. Create a new stereo audio track.

2. Select the summing device as its input.

3. Route the output to the Main Mix, in this case DIG MIX. (See Figure 16.23.)

4. Set the left and right locators to the start and end of your mix. Ensure that they are far enough ahead of the start not to cut off anything and far enough beyond the end to include any reverb tails and such. You can create a cycle marker for the mix so these points can easily be recalled each time you want to print a mix.
