You can easily switch between automatic and manual focus by moving the AF/MF switch on the lens mounted on your camera. (If the lens doesn’t have this switch, then you need to use the switch located on the front of the camera next to the lens mount.) However, if you set this switch to AF, you’ll still need to choose an appropriate focus mode on the camera, as discussed below. (You can read more on selecting focus parameters in Chapter 5.) If you’re using a Scene, Auto, or Panorama shooting mode, the focus method is set for you automatically, and the AF mode selection will be grayed out and unavailable for selection.
To set the camera’s autofocus mode, press the Fn button and navigate with the controller buttons to Autofocus mode on the left side of the Function menu. Then select the mode you want from the screen that pops up (see Figure 1.18) using the up/down controller keys or the control dial. Press the center controller button to confirm your selection.
