Let’s be realistic: it’s kind of hard to connect non-Lego parts to Lego parts. The solution is to create mounting plates (Figure 10-4) out of wood or acrylic. This is how it works:
Download the plate patterns from http://wayneandlayne.com/bricktronics and cut them out using a laser cutter—or if you don’t have access to one, you can use a saw and drill to make a similar plate. Alternatively, we sell the plates! Go to Wayne and Layne’s website or the Maker Shed and search for Bricktronics.
Next, we need to modify screws (Figure 10-5) to attach the PCB to the plate. Grab some screws (we used #6, 1/2″ wood screws) and grind off the points as shown in Figure 10-5—you won’t need them and they’ll just poke through the plate and maybe scratch your hand or a model.
